Oost-Indisch Huis (Dutch East India Company Headquarters)

Kloveniersburgwal 48, 1012 CX Amsterdam, Netherlands

The Dutch East India Company Headquarters is the place that marks the beginning of corporations and, probably, capitalism. The building was built in the 18th century and was the place where the first commercial companies were founded to transport goods over the seas and oceans. The Dutch East India Company was the first entity to become what we now know as a stock exchange.
